Competition is Fast Approaching!

Important Dates:

April 6th: 10 Year Anniversary Event at 6:00 pm, Pickler’s Famous. Competition Team presenting to BAB Board. If you are going to competition, you need to wear your suit, tie or other accessories are up to you.

April 9th: Those going to competition will meet in Kirk Gym at 5:30 pm to take individual pictures (white shirt and black suit coat required, black pants are not required). At 6:00 pm, all Enactus members will meet at Kirk Memorial for our Enactus team photo! Wear your polo and jeans!

April 16 – 17: Regional Competition in Rogers, Arkansas.

Entrepreneurship: From the Couch to Corporation

Have you ever thought about starting your own business? Want to know what it takes to set up a small business? Already an entrepreneur, but need new ideas for your business?

On March 22 Truman SIFE will hold Entrepreneurship: From the Couch to Corporation to introduce aspiring entrepreneurs to the financial, marketing, legal, and management aspects of owning a business and to provide current entrepreneurs with tips to improve their business. The event is FREE and will feature workshops, an entrepreneurship panel, and a reception. The agenda for the event is below. Attendance of all workshops is not required. Please feel free to attend as many workshops as your schedule allows.

10:30 – 11:20 – The Keys to Financing, SUB Georgian Room B
Dr. Jeff Romine, Financial Planner at Financial Planners of Missouri, and Ms. Kristen Irwin, Associate Professor of Accounting at Truman, will talk about financing your venture and budgeting for your small business.

10:30 – 11:20 – The Keys to Marketing, SUB Georgian Room C
Dr. Datha Damron-Martinez, Assistant Professor of Business Administration at Truman, will speak about marketing your business.

12:00 – 1:00 – Reception featuring Rob Sweeney, founder and CEO of Mobile Media Technologies. SUB Activities Room.

In a career spanning over 30 years, Rob Sweeney has started several businesses and has held technology sales and senior management positions with companies like First Data, CyberCash, Hewlett-Packard, Sybase and Palm Computing. Kevin Baiotto, Business Manager at Community Opportunities Inc. and former Coordinator at Kirksville TCRC, will speak about business planning.

Dr. Bryce Jones, Professor of Business Administration, will speak about the various legal forms under which you can organize your business – partnerships, LLCs, LLPs, corporations.
