Helping Hands

The first part of the project is working towards more specifically with Helping Hands.

Helping Hands is a mission ran by two local Kirksville women.  The mission functions as both a secondhand store (similar to the Salvation Army) and also as a soup kitchen.  We as an Enactus team are working on marketing this organization throughout the community.  We are also teaching them basic business skills as a way of increasing profits.  Throughout the course of the semester we will be organizing food and clothes drives to increase their inventory.

The other part of the Helping Hands Project is implementing lasting hunger relief efforts throughout the community.   We will be partnering with the local unemployment office as well as writing grants in order to help Kirksville residents find jobs as well as help raise awareness for the local community garden and how local residents can get involved with this project.  This project is in the very early stages and would provide a great opportunity for new members who want to take on a leadership role quickly.
